One of those phases...

I sat down this morning to write a blog post on our family schedule and why routines work well for us. However, as I was typing our toddlers kept interrupting me with issue after issue. Whining. Whining. Whining. I eventually felt myself getting more and more frustrated, losing my train of thought and writing long, rambling paragraphs that lead nowhere. I saved the blog post and closed the browser. I tried switching gears. I reached out to a fellow momma and shared my frustrations, got some support; even texting someone can help get some encouragement. I switched activities. Obviously blogging wasn't going to happen; let's color! Let's start school earlier than usual. Let's do something organized together. I called our kindergartner back inside to do some school. He got out his school supplies. One of our toddlers started whining, unprovoked. Literally standing in the middle of the room making high-pitched whiny, screeching noises over and over again. I g...

Disney World with young children

Magic Kingdom Large party and our accommodations   We are back from our week in Disney World! My husband is in power school and unable to get time off, so I went without him to Disney World 16-weeks pregnant with our 5-year old and 2.5-year old twins, my parents, my 83-year old grandmother, my youngest sister, and my middle sister with her family (husband and 1.5-year old daughter). All in all, we had 11 people including 3 strollers (my 2.5-year old twins and my sister's 1.5-year old daughter) and 1 wheelchair (for our 83-year old grandmother). We stayed in my parents' timeshare, which ended up being fabulous: a 4 bedroom, 2000 square foot Presidential suite with a view of the fireworks in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I really cannot say enough fabulous things about our living arrangements that week. My middle sister and her husband had one master bedroom; their 1.5-year old daughter slept in a large hall bathroom in her Pack'N'Play. My 2.5-year old twins share...

Pictures of the boys

Our toddlers are 16-months old. While they still have a very selfish, toddler view of the world, they have started actually interacting with each other in a more meaningful way. I love seeing all of my boys playing together; I feel like I'm watching (and nurturing!) the foundations being built to life-long friendships between all three of my precious boys. As for the one-year olds, it is hilarious and entrancing watching two toddlers discover the world around them. This is definitely one of those "double the fun" times. "Do you like see-food?"   "You promise I get a turn after this, right?" "Of course, of course..."   "On your mark... get set..."   "Go!"   "Wow. Dad's lawn mower makes a lot more noise than ours..."   "Here comes the dump truck!" I know, I know. A lot of pictures of just the toddlers. Well, as any momma of a four-year old knows, four-year olds ...

Family vacation to the Poconos

My parents let us use their timeshare for a week. We went to the Poconos in Pennsylvania for a low-key, relaxing family vacation. With plenty of room to stretch out and beautiful views, it was the perfect vacation for active little boys! Thank you, Mom and Dad! Our Master Suite. I tried getting a picture of all the boys on our big bed, but I couldn't get them all to hold still! Second Master Bedroom D had his own master suite. We laughed every night seeing our three-year old snuggle right into the middle of the King bed. He sleeps like a starfish! "The Babies' Wing" We brought two Pack'N'Plays for the babies and set them up in the larger bedroom. They had an attached bathroom-- complete with a shower-- that was pretty handy for diaper changes. They loved crawling down the hall in the morning to see what D was up to. "The Laundry Wing" Down the hallway is the fourth bedroom, the smallest. We used it as a luggage ...
